Aviacom SA announces Argus AAD with Standard Batteries and SWOOP mode

Aviacom SA, a company focused on electronic safety systems for skydivers, is announcing the ARGUS® Automatic Activation Device. It is the result of over 13 years of experience. This Belgian product is developed by a highly qualified team of skydivers and engineers.

This safety device introduces the use of off-the-shelf batteries, a swoop mode and a back-light display. The multi-mode programming allows to choose between Standard, Tandem, Novice and the exciting Swoop mode by a simple push on the button.

The ARGUS® is entirely maintenance-free because there are no moving parts in the electronics. Although, a functional check-up is mandatory each 4 years. This check will be performed by local riggers. There is no need to return the unit to the factory for this operation 

The standard CR123A batteries need to be replaced each year. The cost of this replacement will be some 8$. The low cost batteries and the local check-up reduce the Total Cost of Ownership even further.

The Argus effectively will be the most cost efficient and flexible AAD on the market. The water-resistant Gore-tex® filter protects the electronics for an occasional water landing.

Besides the unbreakable aluminium box and its interchangeable parts, the upgradeable software guarantees a low cost of ownership and a life expectancy of more than 12 years.

The display provides an alpha-numeric dialog in plain English language through its back-light alphanumeric LCD.

The ARGUS® comes in a nice and useful black aluminium instrument case.

The cutter is free after live-saving, if the life saving form is returned to the company.

The unit also works as a data-logger. It logs the last freefall time, the total freefall time, maximum speed in freefall, number of jumps, etc…This information can be accessed by a simple push on the button.

The ARGUS® has been extensively tested for the last two years by means of simulated freefalls in the pressure chamber, computer simulations, test drops with dummies, independent lab testing in the University of Liege and the Lab Denayer, and live go/no-go jumps. And testing still goes on and on…

The innovative ARGUS® is available for all skydivers as in the first week of April 2006. All units ordered during the sunrise period will benefit of the introduction price of 699? (approx. 888$) ex tax and shipping.  After March 30th, the regular price will be 939 ? (approx. 1,111$).

About the owners:

Jacqueline Petersborg is the partner of Karel Goorts. She's a former member of the Belgian S&A ladies team with more than 1500 jumps. She holds a pilots license and is in charge of the administration.
